American Flag Coloring

Years ago, when my son was in kindergarten, I had this crazy idea of trying to make giant classroom coloring projects. You know, like a huge whale when the letter of the week was a "W", a giraffe for "M" and and then on. Envisioning something that everyone could color and quickly tape together for some giant wall art just seemed too fun to not figure out.

A flake (ok, a lot!) of experimenting led to a process of making large drawings on my calculator, applying a grid on top, and and then printing out each panel on its own page. Long story short is that it worked, the kids were thrilled that they made something so BIG, and I have been tweaking the procedure and growing my collection eve since.

If you lot haven't seen my full size murals in my PDF Store, there are lots that are designed for classrooms of 24ish students or so. Given the time of twelvemonth now though, I thought it would exist fun to calibration things down then homes or smaller groups could endeavor a project out besides. And what could exist more lovely than a beautiful flag, bravado in the air current, but in time for 4th of July parties and celebrations? All you lot have to do is download your PDF template, and follow the instructions that are on the last few pages.

Materials for American Flag Coloring Folio

  • Eraser. Large ones you lot can hold in your hand practice a much ameliorate job than just the pencil tips.
  • Black Sharpie Mark. These fine point permanent marker pens brand dainty black outlines, take a good tip for coloring, and never bleed when they get wet. Use them with skillful ventilation and add extra paper underneath to protect your tables.
  • Prang Crayons. These are a fleck softer than other crayons so they sometimes expect like oil pastels. They besides have a some squeamish brown shades that Crayola does not accept unless you buy their larger boxes.
  • Crayola Crayons. The reliable brand that always works well. The 24 pack has some of my favorite gold orange and yellowish colors that seem a fleck richer and warmer than the ones Prang has.
